This memento box contains items that a support group gave one another in honor of their loved ones. This collection box was made by Survivor Chuck H in memory of his daughter Heather, age 16.

“All human life has its seasons, and no one’s personal chaos can be permanent: winter, after all does not last forever does it? There is summer, too, and spring, and though sometimes when branches stay dark and the earth cracks with ice, one thinks they will never come, that spring, that summer, but they do, and always."

Commemoratives

Reminders of your loved ones can occur intermittently. This may be in the form of certain smells, songs, or activities. Recalling may happen during holidays that they loved or in which they had a significant part. Family celebrations evoke special memories as well. When someone dies in an unnatural way, survivors worry their loved ones will be forgotten. When they do remember them, they also recall the painful way in which their loved one died. The results are the experience of a double-edged sword of both joy and pain.

In this commemorative section, we invite you share your memories with us. We want to remember them with you so that we may help carry not just the burden of how they died but the joys you shared as well.

There is a place in our Stories section for you to tell your story (stories) as well.

In this section, share your anecdotes or your reminders. Tell us about their favorite cup, a movie, song, cologne, joke and so forth. Do you have a sign or a symbol of your loved one? Feel free to include a photo as well. All submissions will be published with your first name and last initial only (unless otherwise directed by you). Feel free to put in your loved ones name unless there is a reason to protect their identification

Send us your commemorative and we will share it here for you.
