How To Help
Most people want to help make a difference. Some ways that this is quite evident is in the popularity of forensic shows and the outpouring of support during national or international disasters. When it comes to violent death loss, people may feel powerless and not know who to turn to offer help. There are usually appropriate protections for family members and crime scenes.
Misconceptions also occur about the resources that exist for family members when a violent death occurs. Our co-victim survivors tell us differently. They say that help is often scant, exploitive or just misses the mark. We hope you will explore ways you truly can help make a difference for those whose lives have changed dramatically in just a short period of time.
Become a member of the club no one wants to be a member of. By printing out your own Friends of...card, you become an ambassador to educating and informing others that support is inadequate and they can help. Let them know about this website to find out how they can help.
Print out a few Survivor Club cards in case you hear of someone who has suffered an unnatural death, no matter how long ago. Something we hear from survivors frequently is the need to connect with others who have had a similar loss. They feel so alone. You will help us, help them, help each other. No one should deal with this alone. They also may have information to offer others on something or someone that was of help to them.
This site is a national effort. We hope we can help folks feel more connected no matter where they live.
Donate. Our work continues with inadequate funding due to a committed group who believe in what we are doing and are passionate in providing resources to those who have had a violent death. Go to our donation page and make a commitment to help us ensure our work continues.

Sponsor a fundraiser, a bake sale, golf tournament, memorial donation, 5K walk, in memory of a loved one to: ensure funding of this website, to pay for scholarships offered to folks who have no funding for the Survivors of Violent Loss Program Services in San Diego, to provide training to set up programs in other communities.
