Survivor Club members doing a 5K over Coronado Bridge

Accidents, homicide and suicides are the leading causes of death among 15-24 year olds in the United States with the incidence of violent death a major concern in countries around the world. In an increasingly dangerous and uncertain society our children will likely encounter violent death before reaching adulthood, many during their impressionable and vulnerable adolescent years.

I Hope You Dance

(Selected by a single parent mom who was aged 9 when her mother was murdered as a message she believes her mother has for her.)

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get our fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed
I hope you sill feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closed I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance…I hope you dance

I hope you never fear the mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances but the’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you ge the chance to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance…I hope you dance

Time is a wheel in constanct motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder
Where those yers have gone
I hope you dance…I hope you dance…
I hope you dance
