This mother of 12 year old Lisa, a vehicular homicide victim, asks us to remember her daughter who not only loved life but loved this peace symbol as well.
Victimization, especially the murder of a family member, indeed creates a point of fracture in people's lives. Although healing is possible, their lives will be altered forever.
Vicki Sharp Foreword from the book:Point of Fracture.

Support
"Your Support is Our Mission!"
Losing someone to violence can be the most alone and powerless experience you ever have. Folks around you may think you belong to the wrong societal group and yet, this kind of loss cuts across all economic and cultural worlds. Our founder tells this story: "My little brother couldn't understand how come his friend's mother wouldn't let him play with him anymore after his sister was murdered". Having a loved one die a violent death does not mean the victim and family are criminals.
You are not alone! No one wants any one to be a member of this club, but some of us just are. No one deserves to be with this horrific loss alone.
We hope you will find support throughout our site, however; this area contains special attention to your support. Many items have been written by folks like you. You can read survivors reactions to events in the news, media and pop culture. You may want to add your own items especially to our Walk in my shoes list. In coping tips you may find some items that will help with understanding the normal symptoms you are having in Grief- a normal and natural response to loss. You may find Courthouse Survival Advice valuable. In stories you will read about real folks who tell their stories such as in The Homicide Diet. You may want to print the Survivors Club Card and make extra copies to pass out to others so they wont feel so alone. You may want to direct friends to print our their own Friends of...card as well as send them to the How to help section.
Folks sometimes say well intentioned things to you that are hurtful. When that occurs, you may want to direct them to our website in general but in particular to articles like What Not to Say. You can help us add that list as well by telling us your story.
We hope that you know we want this site to be interactive and we hope to hear from you by submitting your comments through the contact us page.
